The vibrant city of Marrakech was founded almost 1000 years ago and is one of the unique places in the region. A heady mix of Europe, Africa and Arabia, with a striking backdrop of the Atlas Mountains. Once inside the ancient Medina, you'll find great chaos of stalls selling spices, carpets, delicious fragrant food, and more. The city's magic has charmed many visitors over the centuries, and it is little wonder there can be few places in the world that have such an eclectic blend of sights, sounds and smells for the senses; dive on in and embrace this raucous city, and sample delicious food.
In the Djemaa el-Fna, haggle for a bargain in the souks when the mayhem all gets too much, escape to the relative tranquillity of the Jardin Marjorelle, a two and a half-acre park famous for its blue walls and cactus gardens and is a veritable oasis of calm. Then, as the sun goes down, relax with a mint tea and watch the world go by; there's an absolute feast for the eyes. As the snake charmers head home, a banquet of street food appears with the evocative soundtrack of the call to prayer. A visit to this city will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
